I'm a natural redhead, so with age comes fading and darkening.I started dyeing my hair after I turned 40 because I missed my vibrant color. My hair started getting darker toward this muddy red-brown, not the pretty gingery I had in my teens and 20s. I tried henna first as I was apprehensive of dyes and that was ok, but not the best. Then I gave up on that and at age 42, I finally dove into getting my hair dyed at the salon. The first time was perfect, the second time was a disaster. The same person did it those first two times...she did not keep notes on what she dyed my hair the first time...so the second time was WAY dark and more burgundy. I switched to dying at home and getting a product from Sally's and that turned out ok, but not really what I was wanting. I did get my hair professionally dyed one more time by someone I know and that color was fun and I liked the change, but not exactly what I really desired. I'm 44 now. I recently found eSalon and said, "what the hell, let's try it." I gotta say, I'm really happy with the results from this first coloring. I uploaded my most recent photo so they could see my current hair color and also I uploaded a photo of what my hair used to be. I think this made all the difference. I love that I can leave notes for the colorist. My hair is long and my roots were different than my ends, so they blended me two colors...one for my roots and one for my ends...and now my hair is all the same color!
